Here we are at the beginning of a new school year. We hope everyone had a nice August.
Year 11
Year 11 pupils have now left us and started in colleges, schools or in the world of work. As a school we would like to congratulate them all on their success in the GCSE exams and wish them well for the future.
Visit By Teachers From Catalonia
During July teachers from Catalonia visited the school. During the day they had the opportunity to join in lessons and chat with pupils and teachers. It was a very interesting experience discussing with teachers who teach through the medium of Catalan. Experiences and a great many ideas were shared.
Tregaron National Eisteddfod Success
Congratulations to Lea Mererid Roberts on her success in the National Eisteddfod. Lea performed on the main stage in the Instrumental Blue-Ribbon competition for those under 16 years of age. Her performance was very special. Warm congratulations to all the winners from Llŷn in the Eisteddfod. As a school we are eagerly looking forward to the Boduan eisteddfod and the buzz has already started.
Hen Alawon Newydd
This year, the schools in the Glan-y-Môr catchment area decided to collaborate on a project to create new words for old songs or melodies. The intention was to intertwine the old and the new. This would give the pupils an opportunity to learn more about the history and background of the original songs, as well as create their own new versions of them celebrating our square mile and our area.
Each school worked with a poet, artist or creative person to create the new words and it was a great pleasure to collaborate with former pupils and friends of the schools.
At the end of the project, the schools had the opportunity to record the songs professionally with the help of experienced musicians, so that everyone could listen to the songs and share them.

Activities
At the end of the term, in the scorching sun, the pupils enjoyed various activities. We did team tasks, went on walks and visited Neuadd Dwyfor. A luxury ice cream van and a smoothie making company visitied the school and this was very popular among the pupils.
School Staff
At the end of the term, we said goodbye to several members of staff, some who had been in our company for a short period and others who had taught generations of pupils. Thank you and all the best to Mrs Carys Owen, our Head of Art, who has left us after twenty-five years as a teacher here at the school. All the best with the new venture.
Best wishes also to Ifan Dafydd Jones, Phil Kitchen, Alun Jones-Williams, Sian Moore and Gwen Hughes who have been part of the school family during the year.
We say good bye for a year to Mrs Medi Jones-Edwards and Mrs Nicola Williams our cook who have left us on secondment to work for Gwe and the catering department of the Education Department. We wish them both well.
We would like to welcome Miss Heidi Littler back to the English Department following her maternity leave and an equally warm welcome to Mrs Heather Russell who will work mainly in the language departments and Ms. Nia Davies Jones will start as a temporary cook.
